Bloody Job Centre
The first time I've had to sign on after six years of continuous employment and they turn round and tell me that I haven't payed enough national insurance to qualify!
They're a bunch of useless, good for nothing twats. The one time when I fall back on the welfare system to help me through a patch of unexpected unemployment and they can't help.
All for a lousy £50 a week anyway, I don't know why I bothered. I've bloody earned that filling out the sheer number of forms they gave me!
I'm gonna go down there right now and shove in their face my pay slips and demand to know what their problem is.
-
Sheez... you guys have employment insurance  OMG... suckola big time :(
-
It does when they turn round and tell you that they're not going to pay you what you're due.
-
I'll say... what is the excuse? surely 6 years of paying in would be enough to pay you?
-
bloody typical. I was gonna sign on myself untill crispin came along and saved me. they pay billions to refugees each year but they can't even pay some one who's been employed for ages
-
Simon, if you get your Doctor to write a letter saying that you're an alcoholic then you'll have no problem getting the money ;)
Bloody Exeter weather
-
Yeah, soz mate that's rough :(
Same applies if you resign from a company full of ******s - you get nada...
-
I've taken out private insurance against it... There's a 90 qualification period which expires on 26th August; my redundancy becomes official on 30th August.
Hopefully I won't have to use it, though.

Even though I despise the concept of the dole and would never apply for it, I'd have kicked off big time should I have been refused it.
I'd have gone totally overboard, contacting my local MP and the newspapers especially. At least one of them would have a field day with something like that.

Update!
I went in the office and kicked up a fuss. I showed them my payslips from every month of the period for which they examined. They looked at the computer file and it said that I did qualify.
Apparently, the computer system automatically generates letters of rejection after a set time limit even though an enquiry to the NI had not yet been answered. Once that came in, it changed my status to qualified.
I cannot believe the incompetance of the system...

It's not something I relish doing and hope not to have to go back there again. Fortunately, the interview I had this afternoon went well so hopefully, I'll get an offer and I can tell the dole office where to go.
