I want to remotely administer my home pc (a win98) from college (a win xp). Basically, i need pcanywhere, but i dont want to spend the money.
Would you all recommend that i install a back orfice on my home pc? I guess i can put a password on it so only i can access it from college, right? Would that be secure enough??? I know how everybody says its a hacktool, so thats why i'm alittle skeptical...

if you dont hide any federal information i think is not a big problem to control your remote pc. i think you may need to use Winsock controls. it`s and it`s nat hard. I work to a similar program! :P Keep asking my friend! I suggest you to use the winsock. is relative simple. GooD Luck! :p
I would suggest a program called VNC by AT&T networks.

It's almost as good as PC anywhere, but not quite as many features.
In addition to VNC, MS's Netmeeting can be configured for remote control, and it's a free download, if you don't have it installed already.
VNC is better than netmeeting in my opinion. Netmeeting always *****s up my colors on my monitor and I have to go through a series of fixes to make it normal again. It also changes my color down to like 256 colors so that it can send the data over the internet. VNC does a better job of compressing the full colors I think.

I like VNC...use it quite a lot on the home network...and the client is only 172 kb.
