So vb doesn't have any toolbars or menus at all? Try pressing alt to see if they are just hidden for some reason.
dead window... all I can do is Max/Min/Close it
when it starts, I get "New Project" and when I click OK I get that dead screen
Maybe you should reinstall it and see if anything changes
You will need to explicitly uninstall before you reinstall, because if you don't and the reinstall finds files that are newer (because they've been damaged), they won't be replaced.
Uninstall vb re-install from cd. Ok we got something similar a while bac, and even our gurus couldn't get it back up correctly. Ours was due to third party controls dicing up the windows\system area, currently our sysop is going through them one by one to discover which one caused this.
Before uninstall/reinstall reboot the computer and see if that will fix it.
Something similar happened to me before. My VB screen turns black and a lot of different commands wont work. But it fixed when I rebooted my computer.
