Fill listview with folder contents--and shortcut stuff

How would one go about populating a listview box with the contents of a folder. For example, if I have listdsktop as a listview in icon mode, I want it to show icons of all the files in c:\bobsdesktop\

also, how do I make a shortcut (.lnk file)? I don't want it on the desktop, or in the start menu, but I basically want the "create new shortcut" wizard and I want it to create a new shortcut in a specific folder. can anyone help?
