VC++ Help

hey all,
im new to Win32 C++ programming and i have a tutorial that is very helpful but they dont use VC++ and i do. in the resource section is says to make a resource file and it tells you what to put in it and to link to it in your make file. when i go to new resource script in VC++ its al graphical and i cant type the stuff in so i dont know how to mkae it work :( can anyone help me please, the resource file is for menus if that matters
