No, paint is good enough though, you can go transparent gif's and everything
It's color palette sucks arse though, gray is converted to green, etc.Quote:

How do you save a gif in paint? I thought it was only .bmp's.
Thanks
Michael

we're talking about MS paint right?
Michael
Don't the capabilites on MS Paint depend on the OS version its part of?
you gave me a great idea for a new ASP .NET app I could write. An online image converter.
go here
http://www.vegaware.com/upload.aspx
And upload any non-gif image and it will convert it to a gif and display it on the page. you can then download it. There is ALOT more I can do with that to expand it.
Try it and tell me what you think.
cool... only thing I can't do in paint + that page is transparent.

sorry for the vauge message :) What I mean is that I used paint to edit an image (draw on it) then used that link you posted to turn it into a .gif but I need a transparent background for the image and that is one thing that I cannot do via that method.Quote:

oh ok..well I dont know how to do that one
:(
Ill see if I can come up with a way to do that this weekend. Im adding other abilities to app like choice of conversion(png, jpg, tiff), setting image quality/compression, and jpg rotation. So hopefully I can figure out transparent gifs too.
Awesome. That would be a marketable product because I don't think there are any that do that yet. (Just compression I believe).
Thanks
Michael
transparency of the most common color is added. Try it out now. Will work on making the transparency color selectable.
(also sent pm) it took out all the color... just left the black lines.

Can you make it do JPEGs?
I would say make it convert to PNG rather than GIF. You get better quality (more colours and a full alpha channel) :)
Oh, and you won't have to pay the £5000 to Unisys for creating GIFs ;)
burnallgifs.org
www.animfactory.com have an online gif editor if that's any help. Have only used it to resize and change light source etc so not sure if it's heavy duty enough for ya...
Yeah, I can convert to bmp, gif, jpg, tiff, and png from an image of those same types and also including ico. Right now I am trying to fix the file locking and caching problems it has where sometimes 1 of the temp files gets locked and causes errors. :confused:Quote:

Other things I can add are jpg rotation(ie flip it 90 degrees), compression, quality, and some other little image properties I dont really understand yet. I can even add text to the image which if you look at the banner in my sig, you can see the code to write dynamic ttext to an image in action(with a shadow effect).
theGIMP has a feature that can turn it into a server, so someone is probably running a server somewhere.....
