I got it.
If you have never played a game like this, first thing you need to know is that it is based on DND rules. Which does not mean it is complicated, but it would hurt to brush up.
The Graphics are not top notch, though the textures are quiet detailed. The game was designed that way, so it can be played on many systems with zero slow down.
Where the game really shines is the Editor, you can create, weapons, armor, maps, quests, even script in your own unique ideas. The Single player was build using the editor, so it gives you an idea of its power. It is also very user friendly.
The Multplayer, you can either be a player, or the DM. The DM (Dungeon Master) can control monsters, spawn npc, help with quests, award exp, ban/kick players. He is basicly God. The players follow the story laid out by the DM, and help each other go through others wild adventures. You can either save on your computer, or the server your playing on. (Side note: many people online right now are in the d2 mode of slaughtering everyone, so the best thing to do is find a group on the net, that wont act like *******s).
The Single player, is very fun with a good plot you will never find in Diablo or any MMORPG. It is not repetive except possibly the dialog. The plots are dynamic, meaning depending on your actions you will get different outcomes, and there are many side quests.
Gameplay, first the radial menu which reminds me of secret of mana, anyway its easy to use. you have 36 hot keys set to anything you want like spells, scolls, weapons, etc. You only control one character, unlike BGII. You can have only 1 henchman, 1 Campanion, 1 Summoned, 1 charmed in your group at a time. It loads really quickly, the and the atmosphere is great, and chages with the story.
The Bad, nothing really to bad, expect I got stuck in walls more then once. Save alot. Game will crash sometimes (rare). Could have had better music. Again dialog can be boring. Multiplayer still buggy.
All and all it a very good game, the company behind it will be pumping out patches to fix issues. The game is solid out of the box, you wont have any problems, unless your system in junk :p.
Hope that helped, you got any questions just ask
is the multiplayer free?
yes its is NOT a MMORPG. But it was intend to be a Multiplayer experiance, so you can have 64 players max in a game. which is rather good.
If your graphics aren't top notch, then you probably need a new system. I have a geforce 4 card and it still won't let me use shiny water.
PS for a fun multiplayer gag, play a femal monk with no clothes on and name her "courtesan". She will have on what looks like a bathing suit when you dont wear outer clothing. And since the monks cant wear armor anyway... It will make the perfect player killer in full pvp servers.
You need to upgrade your vid drivers then, because the shiney water effect is part off OpenGL 2.0 which GF4 fully supports unless you have MX.Quote:
