I wouldn't go that far chris, in win2k you can delete a file in dos or ntfsDos and delete a file in the system32 folder.
i doubt that deleting something in dos would work...like c'mon thats a 10 year old's plan...

oh yeah you are right, I pulled that out my ass.
I will post the link monday to MS that explains on how to do it. the link is at work and I can't be arsed to look for it now.
Although forgetting your password is usually a bad move ;)
oh I agree but when you hyperthetically work for a police station and lets say you confiscate a laptop from a criminal, he ain't going to tell you his password. ;) but that is hyperthetical.....:D
I think you have to now or face long jail sentences, if they suspect the laptop was involved in the crime (if it wasn't then they can't because it's an invasion of privacy).Quote:

yup they think is was involved but I think the criminal doesn't remember the password, but I don't know the whole story as I just work in the IT department.
I always thought the Police had state-of-the-art password sniffers and brute force cracker stuff etc...
I once saw a Dutch cop using a laptop with a password sniffer and password dictionary hacking a criminals laptop.
yeah rigth, you'll be surprised. they have to contract that stuff out.
I'd like to see them crack into my encrypted files...56bit DES, maybe, but 4096-bit....bwaaahahahaha good luck guys ;) :DQuote:

Yes, that's true. But if you got the WinXP password, at least you can take a look. And then if you see a file named "Illegal_Transactions.xls" or "Dear Godfather.doc" you know you're on the right track.
Actually, all you'd see is a 512mb file called "stuff.pgd" :p
ok it wasn't at MS but here is the link to delete the passwords for admin.Quote:
