Cooling
Aight, I just put a second video card in my comp. Unfortunatly the two cards are placed too close to each other for the cards cooling fans to be effective. the top card is backing the hell out of the bottom card. I just cut and molded a U-shaped plexi case for it (pencil torches are fun:D ) and would like to mount a fan on the side of the case to keep the temps down. I have a few older power supplies lying around, has any one ever yanked the fan out of one or seen instructions on pulling one out and reusing it externally? not sure if this is even possible slap me if I'm being stupid:)

you mean a power supply fan? i am using one right now for case ventilation. You basically pull the PSU open, the fan may be soldered into the little board or in a plug in, either way this will not be compatablit with the plugs coming from the PSU.
*Note* I take no responsability if you kill yourself doing this. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING in there except the fan. Those caps in the PSU have enough energy to kill you!
once you get the fan out you will quickly realise that it is not compatable with any other plug on your mobo (may be different for you). What i did was i bough a fan, this came with another plug so you could use the bought fan then plug something else in, daisy chaining. i stripped the wires on the bought plug then stripped the wires on the fan out of the PSU and wrapped them up good with electricle tape (Best to do this when the machine is off). Then check to make sure all your connections are good, that you don't short circuit any mahciary and plug it in! i have been ventilaing my case off an old PSU fan (and a bought fan) for about 3 months now.

you dont need to buy any fancy adapters, just shove the red wire from the fan into the yellow wire of the 4pin molex and the black wire into one of the black wires on the 4 pin molex.
