What's wrong with religious zealots? (or any zealots for that matter?)

Mendhak, you've gotten kind of flakey recently. It's one thing to turn into a zealot and bother everyone with your religious nonsense, but the suicide thing is out there.

I don't believe there is a god, but I do believe Jesus did exist and that he was a good man. I do not believe that he wanted us all to kill ourselves (or each other) in order to achieve "salvation." I think this is just another case of you guys (zealots) twisting his teachings around for your own purposes, although I can't begin to fathom what your purpose may be with this. I think you should delete that thread.

I'm sure you'll agree with me when I say that every person has their own interpretation of 'religion'. Most people's views of religion may match each other to a certain extent, but never 100%.

Each person is comfortable with the beliefs they choose, which is why they choose it in the first place.

That's just the case here. On my vacation, I took the time out to read the scriptures, and this is how I interpreted them. I am comfortable with this interpretation of the teachings.

Perhaps you would like a full explanation as to how I got to this interpretation?

To be honest, I don't really care how you came to this, but I'm sure you're going to tell me anyway, so if you can keep it to the cliff's notes version, then I'll read them and realize even more how nuts you are.

When we got salvation, we used the term "giving our life to JC". Give our life. We're supposed to hand over everything we are, everything we want to be, every desire, and ourselves to God to do with as He pleases.

Perhaps you don't see it that way? You (people in general) pro'lly thought, "hey man, I'm saved. I'm not going to hell." Well, not really true.

God paid for us with Jesus' blood. Jesus was a good man. Indeed. He died to make a way for us to have a better relationship with GOd, because we were tarnished with sins. Shouldn’t we also be willing to die to maintain that relationship? We are God’s property. And we’re told in I Corinthians 6:30 that we must glorify God in our bodies and our spirits which are God’s. Our bodies and our spirits belong to God. They are not ours anymore to do with what we wish. Or, at least what we think we wish.


We made a commitment to be God’s servants, to be His children, and He can talk with us, we have a relationship with Him. He can tell us what to do and He knows well that His children will do it.

Christ came and he died for us, in our place. He took upon himself every sin imaginable and removed them. We live for Him now. We are to do His work now!

Jesus said we would do even greater miracles than He. That can only be true if we are living for Him and listening to what God would have us to do. Right or wrong?

Now, If there were more dead people in the world (dead as in dead, not living) then would we have all the denominations we have today? Wouldn't we all share the same basic truth, so that we can worship God and pray for one another as one 'body'? It is the will of our Father which would drive us to want to do this.

This is just a jist of how I had approached my decision. It's the true way of thanking God and Jesus for saving us, by going by their will, by repaying them for their kindness. To those who simply engage in constantly praising God and Jesus, I tell you that a simple 'thank you' isn't enough. You must repay them for the blessing bestowed upon you, by acting. By doing. This is the true path to salvation.

I won't be forcing my view on others. I also won't be committing suicide just yet. (Did I spell committing right?) I choose to stick around for a while, and spread the word, to guide the lost people to the path of salvation. I will not be a public nuisance, so you didn't really need to tell me to 'stay away from children'.

But from the way you have explained your theory... I never thought your thinking was so screwed... remember '93 (not sure the exact year)? The story about that cult? The leader of the cult finally decided that the only way to reach god was by killing themselves... so he convinced his followers and they all took suicide... total death toll: about 27...
