Hi,
I have win XP (Clean installation). When I rebooted the pc, it said "NTLDR missing" before it was able to boot XP. The pc does not boot up anymore. I have tried using the recovery console, but to no avail. What else could I try.

that means that whatever you are trying to boot from isnt bootable. This could happen if you have a non-bootable floppy, or if there is a problem with the MBR. I have a copy of my MBR on a disk is you run out of options, but I dont know if all MBR's are the same, and i dont remember if I made a copy of it immediately after a clean install.
just go into dos and type "fdisk /mbr". If not, try using Norton Systemworks for DOS if there is one (I think there's some of the programs in DOS)
Also copying ntldr off the CD fixed that problem when I had it ;)
Confucious says:
its a good idea to get that util called boot.exe (I have it on the TT tut) to back up your MBR after a format...
