What are the o reilly books like? and which one is the best to learn VB for a complete beginner?. Are they the best books to use or can you recommend another type?

For a begginer I wouldn't recommed the o'reilly books. They are a little more advanced but that isn't the reason. I've seen a couple of them and they only talked about databases. If you want database help, then they are good, if you want application developement anything else, then they are not so great. I good VB book (for 6.0 anyway) is Special Edition Using Visual Basic 6 by Siler and Spotts (QUE publishing). The Sams book are pretty good to but they are usually a little advanced and sometimes lack enough examples.
If you are completely new to VB I'd suggest a DUMMIES book. They are inexpensive, have good information, and also have good examples. Again they end up dealing with databases alot, but they have great function references in them.
