I don't think you need to have a something saying it's legal for you to feel this way! Therefore, the entire premise of this thread is flawed.
oh, yeah! IDIOT!!!!!!! :p
First you'll need to explain to us Americans,
what exactly americanism is...
your explaination should be come in multi-lingual formats
and be on a 6th grade reading level, use pictures if possible.
An "Americanist" is one who believes that there is a legitimate use of the every essence of being an American.
ANSWER THE BLOODY QUESTION!
yes.........with caution.
okay.
I need definition of americanism AND americanist.
Those are both big words and us americans are not apt to knowing big words.
second, your answer was not in the English/spanish as is preferred to be seen.
Please do not insult a large miniority as those who are spanish -speaking americans.
Third, you use terms like legitimate, and essence. I , and VBF-ers will back me up
that americans do not understand above a basic 6th grade level.
or is this sarcasm?
Fourth, to answer your question, based on your definition of americanist as one who practices your perceived definition of americanism, I would say there is no basis for enacting such into law. As I do belive there to be nothing to be legislated about being proud of one's country.
If, however you mean americanism to be more in tune with "justifying everything that America as a country does as being the only way, or the only right way and everybody else sucks" then I would have to agree that sometimes other countries can percieve us Americans as being a bit arrogant.
However, I've not seen that attitude demonstrated to any great degree by Americans on this board. Most objections and ranting by Americans here is done in response to "cheap shots" and unnecessary piss takes. It is not necessary, in my opionion to take the piss out of EVERYTHING unless something comes up pointing at ours or your big heads. Most americans agree that not everything our country does or says is 100% correct but to just hate americans because they happen to be proud of their country is silly.....
wait a minute... why do I feel like I've just swallowed it whole again?
But, do you think that if we legalise Americanism, it will open the floodgates to a tidal wave of Americanistic abuse? Or are all such concerns poppycock?
Is Americanism undermining the fabric of society as we know it? Has the war on Americanism been working? Is it time for a change?
Would you like some catsup with that Mr. Picasso?
Simon, the joke is wearing thin.
But, then again, you might find one that is willing to take the bait ;)
I think we ought to keep all Americans in a box so they don't escape! After all, ALL Americans think, feel, and do exactly the same thing don't they? We can't allow them to have opinions of their own! Next thing you know they'll be wanting to have their opinions listened to occaissionally and you know what that will lead to.................arrogance of the worst type! I say, quash it now while there's still time!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I need some catchup ,Quote:

Bar.. Katie,
Yes, a big box. And only americans can be there, except for
other non-americans that promise to behave.
and even some that don't.
and even some that sneak in, it'll be okay.
And we won't need any windows as everyone knows americans couldn't give a Pi$$ about the rest of the world
...unless you're selling cars,
or oil,
or coffee,
or drugs.
and lots of catsup. (no mayonase on french fries)
Hey - not fair. :mad:Quote:

Americans aren't allowed to use sarcasm - we can't keep modifying stereotypes willy-nilly. It'd be anarchy.
I'm sorry ID! I've always been a rebel. Tom says it's my most endearing quality but some people just don't see it that way! ;)
Sarcasm is for Brits. They are better suited for it. Their weather is a joke, their food is laughable and their attitude towards the world is downright hilarious.
Still, an enjoyable lot, those islanders.
You always hit the spot ID :DQuote:

Why did Barbie divorce Ken?
Because he came in a different box :p
why did Mickey Mouse have Minnie Mouse commited to an asylum?
because she was f'ing Goofy!
What's the difference b
Oh **** it.
I didn't read your definitions because I would have had to pull out my dictionary to figure out most of the words. jpiccasso is dead on about our 2nd grade reading level.Quote:

So my question is, does the quote above mean abusing Americans or abused by Americans?
I don't think she's really American anyway. She was probably planted by some other country to undermine us by appearing intelligent.Quote:

Bugger it you beat me to the mis quote:eek: :D
I can't be an American because I'm intelligent and sarcastic?!!?
that's the nicest thing anyone has said to me all day.....except when my dog burped loudly in my face this morning!
Yeah, but you must have been born and raised somewhere else and gotten your citizenship later. It's the only way. The rest of us lack intelligence, sense of humor and sense of irony. It's a genetic thing. No way around it for REAL Americans.Quote:

I'm a second generation American! My parents and I were born here.....my Grandparents were not!
Protest all you want. I'm not buying it. You even spell most of your words correctly. Obviously un-American!Quote:

I find you guilty of the same crime.....not a single misspelled word in any of your posts! You're just accussing me to draw attention away from yourself!
That's the only one criteria I don't meet. I meet the lack of humor, bombastic arrogance, lack or irony and unintelligence criteria. Besides, I've been to many other countries, so I've been adversely affected by other cultures.
so you are saying that being in the military gave you intelligence?!?!?
HA A HAHA AHAH AHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!
Oops! sorry, I forgot myself for a moment!
probably one of dem der, evo-lutin things.
best I go git my shotgun, case it gets nasty on us.
Next thing you know, she'll be makin our sons into
giant popcorn and the crows will come eat at them.
or worse yet, play soccer!
I know, I seen it on the TV.
My son.........:D
Nope the military sucked it out of me. But visiting France and England, for example, gave me a heightened sense of culture. I've pretty much cured myself of it though.Quote:
