I just upgraded from 128 SDram to 256 Sdram, and my computer seems to use it even faster than before. Sometimes i have low system resources boxes popup. I use Rambooster to free up my ram every so often.
Is there a solution to prevent my ram from being used up so eaisly, other than adding more ram.
Low system resources? You're using some form of Win9X/ME, aren't you? It doesn't have anything to do with RAM. It only happens in Win9X/ME. Switching over to Win2K or WinXP will eliminate this problem. That's the easiest, but not the least expensive solution (obviously).
Basically, you could be using a program that has a resource leak, or you could simply be using too many of them at a time.
Windows 98 is a resource leak...
yeah i use 98, but not just that but my computer slows down for a few inutes until Rambooster frees the ram.
win98 doesn't even use that much ram. ok I know I will get flack for this but win98 doesn't see anyhting past 128Mb. so you can put 256 or 512 and it won't make a difference. now if you upgraded to win2000 or XP it will make a difference.
the thing is win98 doesn't know how to handle that much ram or manage it very well. sure it will see it and use it but the management side sucks.
No flak from me since you're right about that. Over 128MB usually doesn't make a huge difference, Win98 can see the RAM but just doesn't utilize it much.Quote:

Leave your computer running on Windows 98 First Edition (without any service packs or anything) for two months...holy crapola...
Or Maybe it's 95, I don't remember. I just remember reading articles on it and then trying it. I'd double click an icon, and it'd take about 5 minutes before the icon was highlighted, and another 5 before anything appeared on the window.
