XBox price will drop?
Hey, just read the news online in the newsgroups. Sony dropped the price of the PS2 to $199, and the PSONE to $49. They're also talking about reducing the price of games. Apparently they're trying to get a step ahead of Microsoft. There's some game EXPO thing next week and Sony expects Microsoft to annouce a NEW price for the XBOX. What do you guys think? Think Microsoft will drop the price of the XBOX? If so, How much? I'm thinking they'll go to $250 or something. Anyway this post is not to bash either system. Both are good, but it was time Sony lowered their price. PS2 is good, but is in a different league of hardware than XBOX. Any comments appreciated. This is an interesting issue. :)

they've already reduced the price in Europe to £199. plus they're giving away 2 free games and a controller to anyone who bought it before the price cut. :)

tr0n,
I was wondering how far before the price cut the free stuff applies to. If I bought it the day it came out do I still get the free stuff?

i think it's just as long as you bought it before the 26th of April, you get the free stuff.

E3 is coming up. MS has already announced that they will be dropping the price after E3. I forget the figure. Sony is dropping their prices in anticipation of the hype around E3. The PS2 was cheaper than the XBox anyway. I don't think either of them are changing their prices in response to each other so much as slowing sales and E3. Oddly though, Nintendo is not dropping the price of the GameCube.
'Course, with the PS2 price dropping and the SDK for the PS2... I would really really love a PS2. Blah, oh well.
