Everyone slags the Americans

We always seem to pick on the Americans in the forums when something bad happens. So, I thought it only fair to redress the balance a little bit.

After the four Canadians where killed by "Friendly Fire" there was quite a vociferous calling for "justice" and claims that the US govt. would ignore the accident.

Both the Canadian Government and the US one have carried out investigations into the incident, and one thing that keeps cropping up from the Canadian side is the extreme co-operation of the US forces and govt. The Canadian guys have been given access to all personel (with the possible exception of the pilot if he claims his right of silence), cockpit/voice recordings, computer data etc. Much of which is classified by the US military.

I know the Canadian public appreciates the co-operation given to them. So thanks America. :)

Thanks SurfDemon! Being from Florida I personally know quite a few Canadians. From Newfys, to the picky french Canadians. All of them seem to be just like yourself.. Understaning, kind, and good natured. Our apologies, and heart felt condolences for the friendly fire incident.

LOL You kind of have to live here to know I guess. If you ever visit Florida... Try and notice that practically no one has a southern accent. The reason is that no one is FROM here. The west coast of Florida primarily has midwest yankees, while the east coast is primarily northeastern yankees. Canadians, tend to live on the west coast. This is an observation most everyone makes after living here a few years. :) Put it this way, I know more Canadians, than native Floridians.

On the contrary, if you have the chance to visit Georgia, notice most everyone has a beautiful southern accent.

bit of a way from tampa to georgia methinks. It's a painfully long drive from tampa to orlando...although we had come from sarasota so that might explain it ;)

Umm.... I generally agree, except for where I live. Gainesville is a small college town surrounded by little redneck villages. Every once in a while, a redneck leaves its nest and slithers into town at which point the sheriff comes around and all the women and children are taken inside. It's really not a pretty sight.

Most people are really surprised when you explain to them how long of a state Florida is. It looks small on the map because it's narrow, but for me to drive to southern Florida is a full day drive. From here to Georgia is an hour. I can get to Atlanta in 6 and it would take me about that long to get to Ft. Myers. It took me 2 1/2 days to get to San Francisco. I don't know why I mentioned that, but I'm not erasing it. :)

Man.... that is the truth! I was hanging out with my brother yesterday and we saw some *ahem* large-boned people wondering around. I told him that you just don't see that in Europe. Well, you do, but not nearly as many.

Bowling green? Thats not fair! The places I've bowled at arent green!!

Which reminds me. The Atacama desert is up north (The driest desert in the world for those who dont know). And you can golf there- but the greens arent really greens since its just sand

I've played public courses that have "sand" greens. Basically, there's a path rolled out to put on and whereever your ball lands, you measure with a string attached to the stick. Then you swing your ball over to the path. I've only seen them on courses that couldn't afford to upkeep a real green.

But I guess that wouldn't apply to a desert course since it's hard to grow grass. I've heard those courses are hell on your clubs.
