what if I have win2k on the primary master and redhat7.2 on the secondary slave. What will happen when I turn it on?
That depends on what your BIOS setup is like. You can often define a boot order in that. Primary master is IDE device 0, primary slave is IDE device 1. Usually you will boot from the floppy disk first, then maybe the CD, then device 0. If you have a bootloader (like LiLo) on the first hard disk in your boot order (usually your primary master), then that will handle which OS gets booted. If you have no bootloader on the first hard disk on your boot order, then whatever OS is on that drive will get booted.
