just put a card in the agp slot and plug in the monitor, if that doesnt work then look in the bios for a setting to switch devices.
If you have onboard video, there must be a place to plug your monitor into some Motherboard connector. Plugging the monitor into the AGP card connector instead of the MOBO connector should do the job.
There might be a Jumper somewhere on the motherboard which enables or disables the onboard Video controller. Look for it when you install the AGP card. Better yet, check your MOBO manual.
Do you by any chance have an IBM, HP, AST, or Compaq PC? They usually buy the GPUs and just put them on the main board. Older computers that use this technique have a jumper on the motherboard to disable the onboard video card. Otherwise, just look for a setting in the BIOS.
I Know about this... It's brutal. I've got an IBM and it's got an ATI RAGE PRO TURBO AGP 2x chip on the motherboard with 4MBytes of Video RAM. It's just sad... It doesn't have ANY expansion blocks on the MOBO either. I've got NO AGP slot because IBM didn't put it in... It's "Integrated" so you don't "Need" it...
For me, I either buy a PCI Video card(Not nearly as fast as AGP) or I get a newer motherboard that has an AGP slot... These companies do it so they can get more money, I think.
First put your card into you computer, connect the monitor. Then if you want to disable the the onboad, look around your system decives, right click remove or disable.
You shouldnt have to disable or remove the onbaord device unless it is conflicting.
Poor bastard =). I just got rid of my Rage Pro (It was the exact same card you have) yesterday, and replaced it with a TNT2 Pro... I think Ill turn the old card into a key-chain =).Quote:
