.NET Framework Installation Problem
Hello.
I've been having trouble installing the .NET Framework
Each time I install it, it refuses to install by the error message "Program too big to fit in memory"... I've been trying to
figure this problem out for some time now... so if anyone can suggest ANYTHING that might have any chance of any kind
of solution to this problem, PLEASE let me know.
I thought it might have to do with disk space, so I freed up over 3 gigs... that didn't work.
Then I assumed it was a problem with the amount of RAM I had... which was 128 MB (the requirements for VS.NET
being 160 MB).... so I upgraded to 384...that didn't work.
After researching the problem over the net, I discovered it could be related to an un-updated windows... so I installed
every upgrade I could get my hands on and THAT DIDN'T WORK.
I have windows XP.
Any ideas? Anybody?
THANKS

This is what happened to me
Are you installing to the C: drive? Do you have the 3 gig of free space on your C: drive?
The reason that I ask that is when I installed it on my machine I had the same thing happen but the problem was that I was installing it to the D: drive or so I thought. Even if you install it to another drive besides your C: drive, it still needs almost 300 meg (294 or some odd # like that)of free space on the C: drive to install.
When I read the dialog box I missed the part about there being "not enough free space on the C: drive" and went crazy for a while. When I had freed up 6 gig on the D: drive and still got the same message I finally read the whole message, gave myself a couple of well deserved dope slaps, and the rest is history.
That's my storry and I'm sticking to it.
Hope that helps
David
