ok about to order AX7 but some specifics first

ok i am about to order the AX7 heat sink, but i have a few questions first (specifics)

1. Should i get a shim, it would cost me $15 (CND) or $10 (USD)

2. Which fan should i get
:Sunon 36 cfm
:ThermalTake 37 cfm
i know the thermaltake has 1 more CFM however does that make it better overall? i am not looking to spend $20 on a Panaflo so i could either get those or a 32cfm in town for the same price.

thats it. i appeased my dad by doing a COD, it will cost me $5 more but it would cost me $2 american or 3 canadain to register my dads card with paypal and this way it doesn't get sent on the internet (my dad is a technophobe, he read an article about mitnick and got the **** scared out of him) :p

Thermaltake stretches the ratings on their products, they say they have higher CFMs and lower noise than they really do

I used to have a Delta 30cfm and I replaced it with a TT 31cfm which supposedly had less noise..well it did, but the temps were a lot higher :confused:

Bottom line...Sunon

Whether or not to get the shim is up to you, I think. I wouldn't get one just because that's $10 I don't have to spend.

Bear in mind that he has never installed a heatsink before and it's a good precaution...

Event with a shim, I crushed my cpu the first time :(

The heatsink just wouldnt go on. Neede two people just to get the second clip down. Worked fine when they sent the replacement cpu :)

I still think it's up to him. I've never used a shim, not even when I was doing it for the first time.

Yes, it's a good precaution, but it's still only a precaution and it's not necessary. I would rather put the $10 to other things and take the risk. But it's really up to him. Would he rather get the shim to be a little safer, or would he rather get a pizza or do something else with the money. I'm not suggesting that he go either way.

i got the shim, mainly cause cracking my CPU scares the **** out of me :p

Good choice...enjoy the lower CPU temp and possibly more OC :cool:
