Game Creation Systems
Has anyone here attempted, or better yet completed, a game creation system with Visual Basic. There's ADRIFT, done by Campbell Wild, for creating Interactive Fiction, but is there anything else outhere? Maybe something for designing graphics games?
I'm not exactly looking to use a program like that. Just curious to see if anyone has tackled such a project.
Note: ADRIFT can be found at www.adrift.org.uk . It's a great program if you love interactive fiction, though so far we don't have very many good games made with it yet. The program is share ware, but again, if you want to design interactive fiction without having to do any programing, check it out.

But programming is the fun part =).

I agree with Zaei. The whole point of using VB is to program in ways never attempted before.
-
Very true. But what about for people who don't want to spend their time programing? There's a lot of people out there that don't want to learn a programing language or *gasp* just can't understand how programing works. I'm talking about making a game creation program for other people to use.
I know that anyone who can program would rather create their own game from scratch. I know I generally would, because you can do exactly what you want, how you want. Course I can't make graphics worth *!!!sensored!!!* so there goes almost any chance at making any kind of game  .

That is what artists are for. Game creation kits are generally a bad idea, on the whole. If someone wants to create a game, they should hook up with a few programmers, and a few artists, and actually do it, instead of just pretending =).

if you use the art that comes with a gcs it will never even feel like your game...

I working on one. But it requires alot of programming skill to use, all it does is remove the need to write the graphic and sprite side to the game, everything else you still have to do yourself.
-
That makes it an engine, not a GCS =).

I've got a partially complete game engine going...

the site sucks, but it does have plenty of screenshots, and a slightly outdated beta.
Warning: buggy!
