Besides Dell, Fujitsu, Apple, Comcrap, Toshiba...who makes good ones? Dell is looking to be a bit too expensive, and it's hard-pressed to find a lappy with even meager 3D acceleration.

Acer make reasonably priced laptops, but generally are a stage or two behind their competitors, and probably not geared to what you'll wont to do Arien.
The new Fujitsu range looks awesome......
They got new owners in July, didn't I just type that?Quote:

Got a website for them Justin, haven't heard of that brand down under.......
Also just thought of Compucon, which are starting to get into the laptop market, could be dicey on service however.
And with laptops the service should be second to none, hence Dell Inspirion.....

Filburt...did you ever make up your mind? For a notebook that won't be used for much more than school I think $1400 seems like too much..
I'm willing to spend up to $1500, but it looks like I'll have to spend a tiny bit more :( So far Dell is teh winnar
I have a Winbook (@ work) that works well.

Those use desktop Pentium 4 chips in them which lack the power-saving features...Quote:

It sounds unbelievable but it's true..
Would be awesome though. Very awesome. 2.2Ghz to go :)
Well how much batt life are we probably talking about?
Nope, sorry... Company is highly reputable though, has a bloody 10.00 on Resellerratings.com....
Here's the reseller ratings comments page on them...

Everything good... Saying the company's a pleasure to work with, they answer all your questions... But, no reviews really on the Sagers or PowerPros... Are the deals on the Toshiba's good? (I don't really know about laptop pricing right now...)

Might give you a general idea...get a second battery if you can and your set...Quote:
Then, just last fall the new Mobile Intel® Pentium® III Processor-M was introduced. It uses 1.4 to 1.1Volts, down to .095 to 1.15Volts when on battery power, and was the size of a small postage stamp using 0.13 micron technology.
Then the BIG BREAKTHROUGH came. The widely anticipated and highly touted 478-Pin "Northwood" Intel® Pentium® P4 Processor, available at up to 2.4GHz w/512 L2 On-die Cache, was introduced. It uses 1.5Volts (a far cry from the older, hotter, 3.3Volts), and is the same small postage stamp size using 0.13 micron technology.
if you want a laptop made to your *exact* spec (as long as its possible:rolleyes: ) try AJP, but they are UK only.
for anything else Toshiba, the best for everything, all other lappy companys are total ******s, and there products smell more of crap than 400 farms with chicken ****
:p
