make sure it has FireWire too...
I won't be doing Firewire stuff on here...I've got my desktop machine for vid editing, and a wired network for file transfers.
Was referring to external storage like FireWire hard drives...Quote:

You have a desktop, duh, it's easy to open it up and stick a new hard drive or burner in thereQuote:

Filburt is getting a laptop for college
kind of off topic, but how does firewire compare to usb 2 in speed?
USB2 is barely faster, Firewire 2 will 0wn all
I think USB 2 has better burst rates but FireWire is better constant transfer ratesQuote:

How many PC card slots?
Theoretical max for Firewire is 400 mbits/sec, USB2 is 480 mbits/sec, either way that's way faster than IDE if I recall correctly...Quote:

FireWire will always be slower and more expensive than IDE but of course it's portable and it's good for n00bs to scared to open their case
BTW, I took screenshots of my 1337
Wireless networking standardQuote:

On Macs they suck, I think it's just badly written drivers or just too much overhead. Suppsedly though the iPod transfers files really quickly (5 mins for 2.3 GB), so software probably makes a big difference.Quote:

So am I blind or can you just not customize the graphics on the 2600? :(
well, there is no way my comp could reach those speeds :(
then there is the story of someone stealing office XP for mac from the store, i don't get why he chose to go out in public to do it with security guards looking for thiefs, just download it off the net. jeez

the guy didn't get caught either :p
i still wouldn't risk it, if you get caught doing that you are in deep ****. the chances of getting caught online are alot less even if it takes you hours to find it
true, i would never do it. but it was just a funny story
ya :p
