VB-World Network Changes - Feedback?

But anyway, on to business....

What's the situation going to be with submitting code/articles? Is it going to be moderated in some form to prevent it getting like PlanetSourceCode (which has had some really dodgy, or just plain crap stuff posted)?

PSC is really complete mess. I bet half that code doesn't even work.

I started looking at them once just to see if they were worth anything. I d/l five from each level (bgnr, intermediate, adv.) and saw if they worked/quality/speed. The advanced ones were nice, the beginner was ok, and the intermediate onces were basically crap.

All the beginner/advanced things i d/ld worked. one intermediate one didnt

How about this Idea ?

All posted code rests separately in a section called "newly posted"

Other members have to vote for the code to stay. A minimum of 10 votes places the code in "moderately useful" section. A code
that earns more than 100 --> "Very useful" , code that earns more than 1000 --> "Extremely useful"

??

One thing I think would be cool here as well....

at TT Chrisjk came up with a very good hack which displays the
local time for each member, with this virtual community being
truly global, it helps to get a handle on what times people are
most active on the forums.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

To clarify: gold membership *may* cost something or be issued free to "special" contributors, all source code submissions will be moderated, plus About.com ads *will* be scrapped.

The VBF may move away from the current setup simply due to compatibility issues and to merge with the new system, however will be made as similar as possible.

LOL, and jpbtennisman - new boss? I think not. Just the same ed that nobody can get rid of :)

Call me a confused economist but with no advertising, free forums etc etc how do the powers that be make anything out of this? Are u planning some sort of mind control where we kindly offer donations of money or body parts? Maybe the large user base is attractive to advertisers but let's face it 99% of us are dropkicks and poor in that order!! :D

the new changes sound great, i like the fact that the code base will be moderated, PScode is sometimes useful (stress SOMETIMES). Anyways i like the idea about no ads (not that i really care cause i got a program the blocks them anyways) but i agree with BeachBum. Why do the admins always have so few post counts, well except megatron, but karl registered april 99 and only has 32 posts :p oh well.

The changes sound great! :)
