I made a port scanner in vb and when i scanned my computer port 445 is listening but i my router doesnt show that it is open, and the other computers in my house dont have have port 445 open, anyone know what port 445 is? And why it is open without me opening it?

The one it is open on is 2000, and the others are 9x do you think it has to do with that?
Maybe you have file sharing enabled on that computer but not on the others.
Its a windows2k thing. MS made a little app to communicate on 445. I have it to. I think its called services and controller app.
The Services.exe seems to change it's CRC data every often. So my firewall (Zone alarm) thinks that it's a new file and asks for permission everytime after i reboot. I even clicked the "Remember this answer next time" checkbox. I have even used the option "Identify by Full path only" but still it asks me permission each time. I want to give the program access to Internet but not to act as a server. But.. how do I stop zonealarm from annoying me with the same question each time ?Quote:
