Hi i am currently making a shell. (www.c-interactive.co.uk) and i need to know how users could close explorer with the click of a button or picture. explorer being explorer.exe. I hope this is possible.
Thanks in advance for your help.

you mean like shutting down Windows??
-
Not exactly. Just so that when the shell starts it automaticly closes the windows shell being explorer...
-
I think you should but your app to start instead of explorer.exe in the shell key in system.ini
-
Ummm. I don't really understant your analogy could you give me an example if possible...
-
Well, this isn't anything you do in code.(Or of couse you can do it also), but go open system.ini with notepad and find the "shell=explorer.exe" and replace it with "shell=yourapp.exe" Then it will run instead of explorer when you restart next time

Oh i see i know that but i am running windows 2000 and what i need is when the computer starts windows starts up with the explorer shell breifly wich launches my shell wich closes explorer. This would be an allround universal system. Sort of...

As far as "I Know" you can't close Explorer, I mean try to end the explorer task in your task manager and it'll just start back again..

Thats the thing you can under windows 2000. It has a great task manager that lets you close explorer and start up any other program. So if possible could you just tell me how to close an application?
Thanks. xoxo
