What, specifically, does it say? I don't have Windows XP (Home or Pro) and I can't find a copy of the EULA anywhere. I gotta see this to believe it.Quote:

Once again the leet kids miss the point, this is in terms of a company wanting to move to XP. Microsoft suck, yet another reason why alot of software houses, who are partners with MS will not switch to XP.Quote:

In effect MS are saying, you must install XP Professional on all support machines, upping the cash flow into the coffers of MS...
and justin says that people hate microsoft needlessly
It is needless, because youre playing by the rules. I don't care what MS tells me the bottom line is i'm gonna run this app or that app if I want and they wont' tell me different, not in a EULA.Quote:

I'm not going to submit myself to a lower class of OS just so i can play by the rule book.
well i really have the sam opinion however a bussiness or something would have to hate that andalso if this ssccaa (whatever) bill passes then you are going to have to play by the rule book, or else! :p
Umm, GOD are you STUPID??Quote:

Microsoft is OPPOSING the SSSCA, as is Intel and several other big companies. The media companies such as Disney are pushing it.
Learn your facts first.
Are the time warner bastards pushing it?
i know MS is opposing it but if it passes then you will still have to stick to the EULA alot more than you do now
Oh, I thought you meant that Bill was going to pass it, as if he were pushing the bill.Quote:

So what exactly is this bill perposing?
That you won't be able to have digital audio/video on your computer and it basically turns your computer into a VCR playback machine where you can just watch stuff but not save it.Quote:

and also you can have only government approved spyware on your system. I love living in Canada, if our CD-R thing passes i will just take a drive to rydens (a store just over the US border) and pick up some more. I am sooo close to the us border (half an hour drive from here) i can get stuff shipped to rydens border store and pick it up there
Arg I hope the people voting on the bill have kids and have computers and their getting free ****. So the kids can bitching to there parents. :D

You would if you use MS logos on your business stationary, and have to abide by all EULA requirements.....
MS aren't worried about the home user guys, this is aimed directly at business....
Wouldn't most businesses get the pro edition anyway? Or most likely even keep Windows 2000 since, functionally, XP is a dismal upgrade.Quote:

We use Win2K, Unix, and Linux ... our Tech manager refuses to have an XP machine on the network...Quote:

Nope generally Business runs on the Pro servers and desktop clients ... have a look around how many XP systems are installed in offices ... jack at the moment....
There's no reason for businesses to run XP over 2000. More bugs than 2k with no extra functionality.Quote:

As for the home environment, it's a hell of a lot better than 98, but I still like 2K better. I'll try XP again when it reaches SP1.
99.9% of the MS servers running out of here are Win2k with the odd NT 4.0 upgarde or rebuild....
About sixty percent of total servers shipped are loaded with some version of Unix however...
Yeap running Win2k at home myself....it rocks!
http://www.microsoft.com runs windows 2000 (and not XP)
Headlines l would get a laugh out of....
"Microsoft replaces internal NT servers with Unix box":D
XP sucksQuote:
