the ISP is bascially just the same as anyother user on the internet

Well, there are issues with certain Linksys broadband router firmware that'll allow people to use SNMP to get info on your internal LAN. I'm sure other vendors have the same holes, as I think Linksys, Netgear, etc. but and repackage the chips.
