Making an OS in VB, why? you've already got windows, if you don't like it write something in assembler, or C at least, anything you do in VB requires windows to run.
What he means is a GUI or Shell... well, I did, works fine. And at the moment I'm working on a new version of it, think it will become a better Shell than this without-cause-always-crashing-Explorer (Or at least hope so ;))
Just download the source code for Linux and modify it a bit to suit your needs.
when i made (had an attempt at making) an os, windows kept on trying to shut it down :(

What is it?? new menus or a whole now GUI?
The beta's like a desktop, you can add icons, configure them, set pictures and so on. No shell replacement yet!

I did this in VB6 couple of years ago. Took ages and was still crap so I binned it :)
