What is DCOM
Can someone please explain to me what DCOM is. I have created an Activex.dll/ COM object. Now I need to allow a Java app to use the COM object. That is very messy. But it looks Like I have the option to use CORBA with DCOM and Java can use CORBA. So is DCOM the same as COM? Any information would be appreciated
Thanks

DCOM is distributed - there are one or more COM servers providing exactly the same services.
The big difference between COM & DCOM is knowing how to get to the server. In COM, the server is defined - hard coded or linked into the program. In DCOM, only a reference to the type of server is linkedf in, not where it lives.
