try disabling hibernation, although you wouldn't be able to hibernate :p
It boots faster than it restores from hibernation :p
Where do I turn it off?
in power managment
yeah i wouldn't doubt it, you have 512 megs of ram right? well i only have 256 so i can shave of 10 seconds by hibernating
Ahhh, 600 MB free now :D
Imagine those people with 4 gigs of RAM
That's kinda pointless unless you're running a server, 512 is enough for nearly anybody right now...it pisses me off how many comp makers are STILL shipping with 128

And then they charge another $100 to upgrade? Bullsh*t.
I want the cost of ram to go down again
I already have what I need..lucky bastard I am, got it at the bottom of teh price dip :DQuote:

I might buy an extra 256 when the prices go down, but i will stick with my current 256 right now
About 2 years ago my friend was going to buy a 64 ram slot. But this was right after the japan factory crashed, and the cost sky rocketed. At that time he had to pay $180 for 64 ram. Hard to image paying that much now :) Good old child labour in third world countries ;)
128 does me justice
I always hate it how some PC manufacturer purposefully put too little RAM in machines that non computer literate people will buy, it just forces them to spend more and more money.....
Apple are guilty of this too some machines which ship with OS X (min RAM 128M) only come with 64, thus forcing ppl to almost immediately buy again....
Will they never think that customer satisfaction will bring them business, and forcing us to buy only makes us bitter and twisted? (Oh wait I was any way :p)
Yep, and then they tell you to buy like "HP certified RAM" for twice the price, or somethin :rolleyes:Quote:

Which Macs still ship with 64 MB considering that OS X is now the default OS on bootup?Quote:

I really hate how they say a computer comes with 64 megs of ram. But they give you 2 32 slots instead of 1 64
my motherboard has 3 512 slots :D although i will never fill them all
Yep same here :pQuote:

Well unless you are doing big graphics stuff what the hell would you use that for?
Exactly, I don't plan on upgrading my RAM any more in this systemQuote:

Clawhammer is the upcoming 64 bit chip from AMD, the Sledgehammer is a faster version and will kill the Intel Itanium ;) but i'm not made of money so i'm going for clawhammer a few months after it is out
how do you live under a cave  ;) :p
i thought 64 bit proscessers executed 32 bit instructions waaay slower than normal?
Only the POS Itanium, the Clawhammer/Sledgehammer not only runs 32 bit apps wonderfully (better than Athlons or P4s) but supports 64 bit onesQuote:

if I get a car it'll be some cheapie car because I foresee very little reason to drive
my grandma is thinking about giving me her car cause she is moving into some delux nursing home  anyways i don't want it :p The insurance would be $1500 a year, my dad wants 75% of everything i make for university, and i want a clawhammer, ps2, more memory, a new video card, computer books (as i learn new languages, currently i have about 10 on varying sybjects and varying languages), I wan't to get A+ certified, (later comes MSCE), and i have to pay for driving school, and my CCNA early next year. OUCH
Don't get the PS2 it's silly to buy a gaming consoleQuote:
