When I get ready to format, I either...
1. Copy files I want backed up to the computers on my network
2. Make a new partition with PartitionMagic, move the files I want to keep there, then reformat all the partitions but that one.
2 is what I did most recently, worked beautifully. :)
i only copy my download files and important data files to CD when i format, i never make entire backups, howeve winXP pro has a backup utility
yeah, 2 is what i usually do before a format. But i am talking more along the lines of sudden drive failure. Something unexpected like a virus maybe.
Get a cheap 5400rpm drive, back up your stuff once in a while.
yeah, but backup how?
I want a full system backup
You can use something like Norton Ghost to make a drive image...
Norton Ghost should do itQuote:

Actually Newegg doesn't even sell 40G 5400rpm drives anymore :p so you can probably just get a 60 gig 5400rpm for like $80
You don't need 7200rpm for backups
thanks, thats what i wanted was a drive image program
norton ghost? eh?
*evil grin*
Mwhahahahahaha

I don't know, I've only ever used it on FAT32. Check out the website.
