I think it's an awesome OS, easy to use, purty, and stable. Rumor has it that the kernel has been ported, but since Apple makes hardware obviously, it would seem anticompetitive to make OS X for PCs. Would you pay to use X on a PC, though?

For Mac OS to go anywhere on the PC, it would have to be pre-shipped on PCs like Compaq, Dell, etc.
im fine with xp thank u very much :)
MacOS is too "simple." I wouldn't want it if it were free :)
Somebody's full of hate for the clear computers :p
Yeah, but we're power users. It would be perfect for someone like my mother...:pQuote:

When you think about it, it is the perfect n00b os
No, OS X is the perfect n00b OS...Quote:

XP on the surface is a "n00b" OS however if you disable it n00bial features you get a nice kernal and a nice OS
True, but once you've disabled all the features and eye candy, you're pretty much back where you started, right? Windows 2000.Quote:

I had some problems with XP, personally, 2000 is more established, it's been through 2 service packs. With the addition of new XP features brings more problems. So you wont' see me on it until SP1.
Same here... I don't really see a point in upgrading (downgrading?) to XP when everything except my vid card, which would still have driver issues, works fine in 2K...
never... why would i want to make my computer incompatible w/ all my software??
My system is getting a bit old (Athlon 0.9GHz (sounds faster like that), Rage Fury Pro, Soundblaster PCI 512, 20GB Seagate + 30GB Maxtor) now so I may get XP when I build a new one.
hell no not MACOS X, maybe an earlier version but not X i hate the eye candy, someone on my floor has a G4 with OS X and she spends most of the time trying to get the right drivers for everything, so my vote is no, sorry :)
Your system is still killing mine... :(Quote:

well why get windows 2000 if you can have cleartype and a bunch of other nice features in XP? IMO If you have 9x/Me/NT Upgrade to XP if you have 2000 stick with it until later
For a power user, and someone that does a lot of developing i think that 2k is much better. The only piece of glitter i miss from XP is cleartype.
MacOS X: Because making UNIX user-friendly is easier than debugginh Windows
How can you call Mac OS a n00b OS, there is no obvious way of starting a task like Windows' start button, the stuff is all over the place and it looks more and more like WIndows with every release. Stupid OS, if you really want it, buy the stupid computer and see what it's like to go backwards. so in conclusion HELL NO!!!!!!
OS X has not been ported to x86
a while ago apple was going to port the mac os .. i'm not sure what version but it was plain jane, not OS X-like
the project was scrapped in the beta stage
is there an easy emulator that can install on PC to run Mac Applications?
