i wanted this too some time ago, here's what i had in mind: take a picture of the empty and the full bar. every time something happens you draw the empty to the memory DC, put the full somewhere else in that memory DC and simply BitBlt the full part you need over the empty bar. percentages are simple, i trust you on that.

Wouldn't StretchBlt be more sensible?

no, it wouldn't be better, cause if you want to draw a graphical bar like in games you can't stretch...
