Is "Mastering COM and COM+" a good book on the subject?

Very much in windows is now based on COM (e.g. VB and DX are both completely based on COM). It is definitly worth learning the basics, although .NET may replace it in the future (but .NET is mainly $ for M$). DMusic requires basic COM knowledge to use, and I don't think DX will ever be made of .NET (too slow).
The WinAPI can also only be used on windows (except for emulators and non-emulators(=WINE)), does this make it a bad thing to learn? ;)
