I often have important conversations in chatrooms that I'd like to save. Tha problem is, some java chats don't allow you to save, or even to copy & paste. Is there a way to get text from a textbox in another window through code? It's just an idea, and I was wondering if it was likely. I'd love to hear any ideas you guys have. Thanks a lot.

What do you mean use my browser? Use it how? The text I want to save is in a textbox that doesnot allow copy/paste. I'm trying to find a way to get the text out so i can save.....without having to re-type.
Doesn't all the text in a scrolling chat have to be in memory somewhere? Could I get access to it? Maybe that's an option.

You're right about the data being in memory, but that's the classic needle in the haystack problem. Assuming it's an invisible needle.
I think that java stuff is likely quite issolated from any kinda program you or I might write. I'd say your best shot is taking screen shots, which is far from perfect, but that's the only thing that will work for sure.
Just get what you want on the screen, hit your Print Screen button on your keyboard and open MS Paint and go to Edit and Paste. Save the file.
