using onUnload to submit a form

using onUnload to submit a form

I have a popup window with a form for a user to enter information... I dont want to add a submit button but would rather submit the form when they close the window. I thought I saw somwhere someone submitting a form onUnload but cannot find it anywhere. How do I do this?
