yeah ..should be out(not 100% complete) in august.
there is also a FreeBSD port in the works too.
I know that IBM is already in the process of writing a .NET framework, so "Hello cross-platfom"
just hope it all works out the way we hope it will.
I'm sure it will. .NET promises to be big :)
from the beganning .NET was built in a way where cross-platform can be achieved with not a big headache
i would be really pissed if it wasnt cross-platform at one point
cus i want java GONE, GONE I TELL YA
(we can all hope and dream)
Josh - did you get Windows.Net from an MSDN subscription and if so, what month's shipment cause I only got the Knowledge Base in January's...
I got one copy from a Technet Plus subscription a couple months ago. I did get another one with MSDN Enterprise, but we just bought the subscription, so all I've received is the big initial shipment - I haven't received any monthly shipments yet.
if you have an msdn membership that gets you the development products you can download vs.net from the msdn site...
in one huge file or cd iso images.
cd isosQuote:

Does anyone know if we are going to be lucky enough to get a .net beta for linux or will they just release the full shebang?
http://www.go-mono.com/
Its Linux and Open Source - you can download the source code and compile it. Its not made by MS.
98 and below, you need to install the .net framework on to the machine as well as the vb.net app. Another reason we need to keep the vb forums, a lot of companies ain't gonna spend $1000s of dollars to replace their existing installed Windows base...Quote:

The company l am joining next month, have specifically gone to Win2000 to facilitate .net development....but will not be rewritting existing apps.
