Well, I wouldn't want to give praise to XP, so I'll say that I think that 2k just isn't optimized for games. Think about it this way, my 2k box crashes WHENEVER I play a game, or goes slowly... That's why I kept my '98 partition....

Games are like the only things that a lot of still require Dead Operating System.
How crap.
I find XP great for games. But the only game i have on my computer right now is quake III and i really don't use it for games. It is good for speedy encoding though
XP beat 2k in the pcworld benchmarks with quake 3. I'm not suprised that 2000 is slower, it's just not made for a hardcore gamer. It keeps me happy though. take your pick of os.
Perhaps I had so many XP problems because I kept choosing "Upgrade" from 2000? I guess when you get so wrapped up in a rig, common sense goes out the windowQuote:

upgrade is a piece of ****. It backs up your old os so that you actually have 2 oses on there. If you do the clean install there is no going back. :D Get professional corparate edition
yeah since you didnt clean install, there would be tons of problems.
i ran XP on my Dell, and I didnt any problem...and you should either cos you have all compatible components.
i would have XP on here, but i dont have a copy....one that works anyway
:D Justin, Justin, Justin. Using Upgrade are we? I didn't think you would stoop so low:p . When i installed XP over 2K, i formated the drive completely. Since XP has great drivers for pretty much everything (everything i have anyways), i had no problems. Everything works great.
