Can anyone recommend a weekend away, within 3 hours of London, UK or Europe?
Need break. Close to melting... :(

Grimsby? eh? ;)
Naw, can't really pull that one off again, as I managed to get to holland 4 times last year... anyway, I have some VERY nice mullah at the moment, so no need....
....anywhere near hastings? :p
Bexhill is a lovely part of the the world. Very lively place, with bridge mornings and Bingo. Great place to find new love, that is if you love grannies ;)
There's no finer love than granny love, Ian....
*ahem, anyway, quickly rescuing this virginal thread from dirtbags like you :p
*bump
Anywherer I can take a nice break, other than Bexhill and Holland? (and Grimesby)
Depends on what your looking for mate. you could quite easlily get a nice little B&B in village near Oxford for instance and do the culture weekend, go down to brighton and sample the fine night life, spend a weekend in Paris (which is fine apart from it's full of french people ;) ). the list goes on ...........
*in official Belgian Tourist Board uniform* Ardennes maybe ? :)
if you are thinking of belgium, I can hartely recomend Antwerp as a lovely city :)
Oxford I know like my own ballbag, Brighton too hedonistic, Paris is the only eurpoean city I have been to many times and never enjoyed.... sooooo *makes Family Fortunes Mr babbage computer eh-ehhhhhhh sound....Quote:

DW, Belgium is a big possibility. I was thining Bruges or Antwerp maybe, but Ardennes seem like a good option - I was drinking Chimnay Blonde last night, so feeling a wee bit Flemish this morning ;) Any good info?

Gaff, Went to antwerp in October 2000 on a staff holiday with the company that I was contracted to at the time. Had an absolute blinding time. Very fine bars to sample in the evening and their is enough to see and do for a long weekend. quite a cultural city with some lovely site's :)
That's what I'm thinking - Antwerp.
Or Fiji....
hmmm Fiji for a weekend, how the other half live :p ;) Fly there, this is Fiji airport, Fly home, that'll just about cover your weekend ;)
...or Kabul....
How about Switzerland - anyone know anything about Switzerland, bar the shiiiite cheese/clock jokes...
Antwerp is an excellent choice. My home town, see ? :D
As for the Ardennes, try the region around Liège (Hoge Venen),
the deep Ardennes (around Luxemburg) or the Namur-Dinant region.
Whatever you do, stay away from Charleroi (that's trouble there :p)
I've been to Liège - it's not far from Maastrict... Luxembourg sounds like the answer maybe... Is the beer good in Lux?
It's our beer innit ? :D
The beer's good, the food's good, the people are nice (if not somewhat dull :p) and we spend half the year there (and our money too) so it can't that bad, can it ?
Cornwall.....
I thought all the in crowd went to Blackpool?
Trivia time... DW cant answer...
What does the name Antwerp refer to?
No wonder your exchange rate is 60 to the pound then ;)Quote:

Naw, sounds good, might have to get some advice from you later...
Hey Crispin :D Cornwall also features in my thinking (along with York), but February is the month we'll go...
BTW, I am curently in very smelly clover ;):D
Can't answer ??? Won't answer you mean :p
It's an urban legend anyway, nobody thr ... whoopsie, nearly said it there :D
Please dont ruin urban legends with facts... I will be doubly peeved if you criticise my next post involving Elvis and a 7-11
Antwerp derives from the old Flemish medievil concatenation of a popular singer of the 1600s, Adam Ante and the sound cheap shoes make when they're wet. This was a natural coalition, as Mr Ant, being from a poor background, often sang sole music whilst working as a cobbler.Quote:

Nowdays of course, ha, Antwerp is a young, vibrant city, with expensive shoes aplenty.
Probably
I think it actually means "Land of the Twerps", or "Home of the Twerps" - something like that. Am I close? ;)Quote:

Gaff - why not try a skiing weekend? They're all the rage at the moment.
You would've been closer if you said "Big pile of cow dung" :p
Adam Ante ... good one ;)

well, your location is vulgar, rude and not very gentleman like, so I'm going to report every post :D
Report this, mofo...

Martin, Martin, Gaffer just posted a picture of a scrotum, and I'm jealous as his is bigger than mine ;)
Nope, it's a ball bag. Looks like I have more than the usual balls in my bag...
Really, well http://www.vbforums.com/images/ieimages/2002/01/8.jpg to you ......Quote:

February Choices:
Scotland (highlands pref)
Madrid/Barcelona
New York Long Weekend (V.Cheap at present)
Rome
Florence
Berlin (Personal favourite)
Antwerp's kinda old-hat these days & is bladdy cold this time'o year !!! Hot chocolate is nice allright but....well......
Or even here Haf, Joints aside, its a good auld town.....
Peeman.
The Scottish highlands are really nice, not sure about the weather though
Good thing about the Highlands in February - no midgies. :)
Although I wouldn't bother with the Highlands unless you only intend to do touristy stuff, because the nightlife is almost non-existant...
Whaddya mean? There's a pub in Dingwall... ;) :p
Lisboa.
Great food, great wine, decent people, history out the wazoo,
culture from 300 years before France was discovered, good
exchange rate.....
excellent stuff :D
Peeman, Thermae2000 is my preference, maybe staying in ****** rather than Maastric this time...dunno....
Berlin is also up there on the list. Rekjavik I know is "cool", but probably by design of the people that bought into it (Damon Albarn et al...)
Der Farm - Lisbon would be fantastic, but I think it's a bugger to get to on a Thursday evening.... maybe not. ave you been?
