Persist Decimal Data to SQL Server through Stored Procedure in VB

Hi all,


I would like to persist a decimal data to sql server which is defined as decimal(4,2).

In VB, i prepare parameter like this:

Set prm = cmd.CreateParameter("Num", adDecimal, adParamInput, , 1.24)

and then execute the stored procedure.

The value is rounded up to 1 in the database. Why? What should i do?

Instead of defining it as adDecimal at the vb end, could you do it as a long? I can't see any precision or scale so it may be that.

Rounded to 1 in the DB - can you confirm that it is the DB rounding it and not the VB app ?

'Cause if its the DB then the field definition needs looking at.
If its the VB app - try declaring your variable as double.

I am sure that the field definition in DB is correct.

In VB,

If i Set prm = cmd.CreateParameter("Num", adDecimal, adParamInput, , 1.24) , then i get error "The Percision is invalid" when cmd.execute is executed.
I received the same error if the data type is adNumeric

If i Set prm = cmd.CreateParameter("Num", adInteger, adParamInput, , 1.24) , then i can persist into database and the value is 1 (This is correct because i set the type to adInteger).

How come i cannot save the data in adDecimal type?
