This file gets written to when I first bootup my PC (NT4) and is now 204Mb. Why is it so large?

It's your swapfile, virtual memory of NT.
You can set the min and max size in the System control panel applet (performance tab).
If it's so big, it usually means that either the initial size of the pagefile is set very high, or you have a *LOT* of programs running for which windooz need to swap a lot...My initial size is 139mb, with 128mb RAM. Right now it's 142mb...
