Modern = Well i have lots a favourites like Frenzhal Rhomb(aussie band) but perhaps the Pumpkins or Pearl Jam!
The Beatles ARE rock, Zepplin & the Pumpkins rock, if you like obscure non-main stream bands check out Nothingface and Non-Point, kick ass!
BTW how can you put the beatles in the same genre as Brittney Spears and Michael Jackson.
They are not rock they are a pop band but it's all really one in the same i spose a very thin line!!!!

And anyway pop music is popular music, which where the expression comes from. Beetles where technically a pop band in their time. Britteny Spears and boy bands and stuff are really teeny bop/pop bands or crap depending on your perspective. :D

Right now - really couldn't say. My personal favourites are the Deftones, but I don't know if I could say they're the best.
Nothingface are pretty cool. I love "Can't Wait for Violence", that is a cool song.

There was a rumour that Linkin Park were manufactured but I'm not convinced it's true.
Incubus have been around for quite a while, and I reckon their stuff from a couple of years ago is better than what they're doing now.
I don't particularly like Linkin Park. They're okay, but something about them is just not that good. Their music doesn't inspire me.
