Winsock Fun!

This is funny. Last night I just figured out how Winsock worked, so I'm like "I could do some funny stuff with this."

So I made a Send program and a Receive Program.

The Send program had the ability to create random new folders on the desktop and send a message to the other computer using message box ( I know pretty basic but hey)

I got my friends IP and told him to download the Receive program.
I told him it wasn't harmful, and that I made it.

So he opens it, (I also made the Reviece not visible) so he said "It doesnt Work"

Then with my program I sent him a message
"Hey *Name*" (I was on the phone with him at this time)

He said "*** it knows my name"

I LAUGHED SOOOOO LONG AND LOUD

Then I created alot of new folders on his desktop, and laughed even more.

After a few minutes, I told him what was happening and told how to delete the recieve file.

We met up later so I could explain the Program, He didn't care and thought it was pretty funny too.

Anyway don't under estimate WINSOCK

It RULES!!

dude the extent of winsock goes much farther then creating random files on the desktop. you could send and recieve and data u want enabling u to do anything from making a key logger to a program that completely takes over someones computer. especially if that person doesnt know a lot about computers.

however i do not have any "funny" stories about this. i got sad stories of peoples computers being screwed.

Yeah I know it can do all that but thats more complicated, I would have to make it two way, and blah.

But one of the things that amazed me is how easy it was. Know wonder there are so many viruses, trojans, and worms. Though I know why its easy, because it is for practical uses like ICQ and Networking, Sharing files etc.

P.S Other peoples Computer Goofs can be funny too :)

But you can only do this to somebody who is completely newbie to the computer world or if he/she trusts on you.

not neccesarily. u can post em on the internet on popular sharing programs under popular name like dreamcast emulator or something and people will download them and open em.

also on the windows server if it isnt patched (although i dont know how) you can overflow the buffer and get the program to run off the RAM. thats how code red and a bunch of others worked.

Yeah I was wondering how code red can do that, anyone know how?
