Finally Kickin' the ASP bucket

Yep, i've decided, no more major ASP apps. I just can't take it anymore. I hate Microsoft, and i don't really know whats going to happen to ASP in .NET. I don't want to know either. So, i am gonna move to PHP. I don't think it will be too hard, since i already am good at C++ and ASP. It seems to me that PHP is like the concepts of ASP, with the syntax of C++.

So, to my question....

What are some really good PHP/MySQL websites for learning PHP and MySQL. Preferably some intermediate type sites, since you know, i already know the basics of programming. :D:D:D

read the manual. it has helped me a lot. also just right little apps and work your way up. it's not very hard.

The "official" sites for both of these seem to be the best resources. Check out PHP.net for a comprehensive overview of all available functions (Including the MYSQL functions). Or mysql.com I believe...

I have a PHP reference / not introduction book

called:

PHP DEVELOPER'S COOKBOOK

by sams, that was about AU$80 bucks

I was going to buy the book put out by wrox and the one by sams as a second option but the only book store that had either of those books (had both) don't give student disscounts and they were to much so I got a cheap book published by Peachpit Press the first 2-3 chapters are useless but I'm sure the rest of the book will come in handy

Wrox was over $70 canadian and the sams one was over 80 the cheap book I bought was $29.95. Stupid book store has such a crapy php selection but then again everything had a crapy selection except XML

I suggest looking around some more then too...

does the sams one have info on MySQL?

I'm sure it does as it wouldn't be complete without it... :p

also it should come with a cd too

depends which book you get as to whether you get a cd :(, but yes, there would be articles about mysql
