Some people are suggesting I Upgrade to 2000. Can anyone tell
me why I should or shouldn't? Why is 2000 better than Windows
98? What parts of 98 do you miss or think is better than 2000?

I recently moved up to 2000, its a lot more stable than Me or 9x, its only crashed once in the several months I've used it, and that was when I tried to install a external USB burner.
I know it has some limitations with games, but I use it more now for development since its so much more stable
98 all the way :) It doesn't crash all the time and you actually install the thing without it crashing half way through. And 2000 takes ages to save stuff. Only good thing about 2000 is that the help assistants look better
Can't believe Linux is an option  (don't tick it Dean!!!)
At least I didn't put MAC up!:D
XP's what you should use, it's most reliable system of them all and it has tons of nice features, top on my list is cleartype font, hibarnation and the custom skinning (although i have them turned off now awaiting for better ones to show up). There's loads of others but many are details.
No using the "m" word here :pQuote:

Crashes at least 10x's a day. 2000 is the mutt's nuts, not a single crash in months.
Why would it take long to save stuff (it would depend on the program doing the save)? NTFS is faster and more stable by nature than FAT....are you thinking about Office 2000??Quote:

Have to disagree, I have more problems with 2000 than 98

oh...but I think the topic of the thread is the OS Windows 2000 not Office 2000
Well I'll be a son of a gun. Maybe you've got a really bad computer with 2k on itQuote:

yeah Pix, smacked bum for you! :D
Oh no ;)
I have a similar problem Lou. Whether to add a few K to my Vic 20 or go all the way and get a Commodore 64... now I have heard about this new fangled Apple Lisa coming out soon... maybe I will wait for that.
 Who's smacking bum???
Mine used to do that, but I changed some sort of network settings, and it only crashes once or twice a month now.:DQuote:
