Could someone please explain what the .net range is?

.NET is the latest and greatest addition to the MS development OS range of products, encapsulating many things demanded by Users, including full XML support and one step Intranet and Internet deplopment.

It seems to be aimed at just about EVERYTHING.

The main point to .NET as I see it is that you can theoretically develop the same(ish) code to run on almost any hardware or operating system.

Part of MS's plan to take over the world. In the future every app will either be written by MS or written using one of their products.
