... doesn't refresh the page. Any reason why?

Try dumping your cache and doing it again.

Well, there's not much point in that - I can just press the Refresh button. :rolleyes:

I know how to get around it, but it just seems a bit daft.

If you select the same forum that you are viewing from the combo, it would not refresh the page, but if you want to, just click Go next to the combo, and it should refresh the page.
