You need to pay for Visual C++. Check out the following website for some C++ compilers:

Dev-C++ and DJGPP seem to be the 2 popular (free) C++ compilers.

Also, you can download a free C++ Compiler from Borland

I don't know how to use Borland Free C++ Compiler yet.
as far as free go, i personally like the borland command line compiler.
Borland's C++ Compiler sucks! It's just a waste of time for me on this ****... Took me 45Minutes to download a 8.5MB Crap. WHen I Try to compile a file with <windows.h>, it can't compile... Can't find the header file. It sucks kok.

If you have a really fast connection you can download VC++ for free. Search www.warez.com. ;)
Warez are illegal and not recommended...but you can get the intro edition of VC++ for only about $40 US.
Well of course it is illegal. 1000$ apps for free, that must be illegal, but if you don't have money you will have to turn to warez.
40$ may not be much, but in some countries that is the average monthly salary.
But that still doesn't justify it.
If you really don't want to pay anything, I'm sure you can download a demo copy from MSDN.
Well, it may not justify it, but if like any hardcore programmer you want to have the ultimate programming tool, legal or not one day you will download it.
