I just had a really great idea, people.
Why not just destroy the planet? A few well-placed nukes and we can take it apart in about 10 minutes :)
Be great for the morale of the universe, and we can get rid of all our problems in one go! :D

Yes, but all that power is only used to mess the atmosphere around. I'm talking about putting nukes into every fault line you can find and seeing what happens :)

I got a better idea: the flight sticks of the aircraft pilots should be protected by a fingerprint system so that only the two pilots are able to fly it. Sure it would have to be made very reliable.

Yes, only the 2 pilots will be able to operate the aircraft.
No pilot would do voluntarely something that terrible.
But if the terrorists dont know about the system and got other plans than crasin into a building, then this is not a good solution, i admit. Well, was just an idea.

Welding the door is not such a bad idea. Actually, connecting the cockpit door lock to the altimeter such that the door won't open until the altimeter shows 0 would probably work. Presumably, the lock could be attached to a switch that would automatically call FAA/Police/FBI/whoever, if the door was attacked.
You are right, of course, that hijackers could break down the door and/or blow the plane up. But they can blow the plane up anyway.
Much the same system (in theory anyway) is in place in the maximum security prisons. If the prisoners take you hostage you are SOL. There will be no negotiation.
